NTI BIZPRO AWARDS 2011 – BUSINESS LEADERS AND YOUNG ACHIEVERS TAKE THE GRAND STAND

MUSCAT: An award function totally presented by previous year’s award winners! BizPro Awards 2011 was a gala ceremony that began with a tense air of expectation. The best of the best Business Leaders and Young Achievers awaited Oman’s proud moment. More than 100 ‘Young Achiever’ nominees had been filtered down to 3 by the expert KPMG panel that took them through the evaluation process. Then, there was the much-awaited announcement of the winner of the BizPro Business Leader Award.

The main objective of these awards, now into their 5th consecutive year, has been to reward and promote the achievements of the Omani Business Leaders and Young Achievers by acknowledging their contribution to the corporate sector in Oman. National Training Institute initiated the BizPro Awards to be a definitive thrust towards recognising the role models and mentors of the business world. Partnering with business houses, the primary objective has been to recognise and celebrate the accomplishments of Omani performers, and inspire people to contribute towards the growth of the country.

The BizPro Awards strive to spark this fire in talented individuals by presenting them as acknowledged performers of the business world, and arousing their desire to live up to new responsibilities. The awards have become a benchmark for recognising and rewarding Omanis who have excelled in their professional domains, both as Young Achievers and as Business Leaders.

At the stroke of 7:15 pm, the show began, in the presence of hundreds of luminaries from the corporate world, and Khalid bin Sulaiman al Siyabi, the first Omani to scale Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain peak at 8,840 meters as the guest speaker for the evening. He recalled moments of his expedition, sharing footage and images of the challenges he faced during the climb. He is also the first Arab to climb the Bimori Mountain, one of the most dangerous mountains on the Himalayas. Khalid’s achievements can be cited as an example for young Omanis to achieve new heights in their respective fields of practice.

The Business Leader for 2011 and the three Young Achievers, who were chosen from among 6 finalists in each category, made individual presentations at the award ceremony to prove their true ability to deserve this kind of prestige and honour.
